Robert Ryan, an American film and stage actor, has passed away on July 11, 1973, at the age of 63. A native of Chicago, Illinois, Robert begun his career as a stage actor. After success on several Broadway productions, he achieved his first leading role in the crime drama "The Set-Up" ["The Set-Up (1949)] in 1949. He then went on to star in several other Hollywood features such as "The Longest Day," "Billy Budd," "The Dirty Dozen," and "The Wild Bunch" with Sam Peckinpah. His later films were recognized with several awards such as for his performance in 1952's "The Sniper" ["The Sniper (film)](1952). In 1968, Robert won an Emmy Award for his role on the TV series "The Big Valley" ["The Big Valley"]. Robert Ryan will be remembered as an admired figure in the movie industry with an impressive filmography. He is survived by his wife Joan Weldon and his four children.
