It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Roger Miller, who died on October 25th, 1992 at the age of 56. Roger Miller was a singer, songwriter, musician, and actor. He was known for writing hit singles such as “King of the Road,” “Dang Me,” and “England Swings.” Miller became one of country music’s most highly respected singers, winning 11 Grammy Awards, a Tony Award and four country music association awards. Roger Miller was born in Fort Worth, Texas on January 2nd, 1936, and was later raised in Erick, Oklahoma, where he developed an early interest in music. He spent much of his early career playing in bars as a bassist for various honky-tonk bands. He later signed to the Mercury label in 1965, and soon after his career took off. Between 1965 and 1972 Miller wrote some of the 20th century’s biggest hits. He is remembered for his successful career as a singer, songwriter, and performer, who brought joy to his many fans around the world. Roger Miller was an acclaimed songwriter and a true entertainer. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and fans.
