Ruth Ellis, born Ruth Wilson, died on July 13, 1955 at the age of 28. She was born in Rhyl, Wales on October 9, 1926 to Ida and Arthur Wilson. She was sadly taken from us at an early age. Ruth had a tumultuous childhood following her father’s death when she was 12 years old. Following that, she moved to London and worked as a nightclub hostess and model. In her adult life, Ruth was a single mother of two children, Georgina and Clare. In 1955, Ruth Ellis committed a crime of passion for which she was convicted and sentenced to death by hanging. Ruth was an unconventional woman whose early end did not allow her to use her full potential. We will remember her as a brave woman who lived her life with no regrets. Rest in peace, Ruth.
