Salvatore Maranzano, age 45, passed away on September 10 1931. Born in Sicily, Italy, Maranzano moved to the United States in the 1920s. He worked as a mafioso in New York City and became known as the "boss of bosses" for leading a crime family. He was later killed by his rival, Charles "Lucky" Luciano. Maranzano was remembered for his leadership skills and cunning business acumen. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the mafia community he was an integral part of.
