Sarah Rector, 65, passed away on July 22, 1967. Sarah was born in 1902 in Oklahoma. She is remembered fondly for her incredible success as a businesswoman and entrepreneur. She was the first black female millionaire in America, having ammassed her fortune through land holdings after being given a large tract of land as part of the Indian Territory of Oklahoma when she was 10. Sarah left a lasting legacy of philanthropy in her community, as well as mentorship and support for many aspiring entrepreneurs and business people, living and passed. Her life will always be remembered and praised for her tremendous success and generosity. Sarah will be deeply missed.
