Shannon Hoon, lead singer of the American rock band, Blind Melon, died on October 21, 1995, at 28 years old. Hoon was born on September 26, 1967, in Lafayette, Indiana. After achieving regional success with his own band, The Two Minutes, Hoon moved to San Francisco in 1991 to become the frontman of Blind Melon. Hoon is best remembered for his band’s hit single “No Rain” as well as other popular songs from their self-titled debut album. He gained recognition for his unique writing and vocal style, which has since impacted the sound of alternative rock. Hoon’s career was cut short due to his death from a drug overdose in 1995. He is survived by his family, friends, and fans.
