American business magnate Sheldon Adelson passed away on 2021-01-11 at the age of 87. Adelson was widely regarded as a successful entrepreneur and business leader. He founded the Las Vegas Sands Corporation in 1988 and would eventually become the Chairman and CEO, growing the company into one of the most successful casino and resort operators in the world. Adelson was also a philanthropist, donating millions of dollars to charities, political causes, universities, veterans, and cancer research efforts. He and his wife established the Adelson Family Foundation which focused on health, education, and poverty alleviation in Israel, the United States, and the Philippines. Adelson was honored by several organizations including being inducted into The American Gaming Association Hall of Fame and receiving the Woodrow Wilson award for Corporate Citizenship. He is survived by his wife, four children, and seven grandchildren.
