With sadness, we mourn the departure of Sherri Martel, who passed away on June 15, 2007, at the age of 49. Sherri, who was born in 1958, was an American professional wrestler, actress, and wrestling valet. She grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, and attended Shades Valley High School. Sherri started her professional wrestling career in the early 1980s. She achieved great success as a member of the American Wrestling Association and the World Wrestling Federation. She was the first-ever to win the WWF Women's Championship three times. Martel also acted in several films, such as "Midnight Angel" and "Two-Fisted Law", and had television appearances on "Saturday Night Live" and "Married... with Children". In addition, she was a successful manager and valet, captaining such teams as The Fabulous Moolah, The Hart Foundation, Brutus Beefcake, and Macho Man Randy Savage. Sherri was a beloved figure in the wrestling community and will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
