Sixto Rodriguez (1942–2023) passed away on August 8th, 2023 at the age of 81. Rodriguez was born in Detroit, Michigan and is survived by three daughters, Lisa, Eva, and Regan. An accomplished musician, Rodriguez first recorded his debut album Cold Fact in 1970. His second album Coming from Reality was released in 1971. Both albums remain widely celebrated and praised among music fans and critics. Rodriguez was admired internationally, and gained a cult following in South Africa particularly in the late 1990s, as his music was portrayed in the documentary Searching for Sugar Man. His music will continue to be celebrated in the years to come.
