Sonny Landham, born William M. Landham on February 11, 1941 in Canton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2017 at the age of 76. Upon graduating high school, Landham served for four years in the United States Marine Corps before beginning a career as a Hollywood actor, stuntman, and political activist. His breakout was in 1982’s classic “Predator,” starring alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. This performance is widely remembered as some of Landham’s most famous and acclaimed work. He later starred in a number of other films, including "48 Hrs.," "Action Jackson," and "The Guardian." A committed political activist, Landham entered the 2008 race for the Kentucky State Senate as a Libertarian candidate. In addition to his career in film and politics, Landham’s legacy is also notable for his continued vocal support of Native American Rights, bred from his own Native American descent. His family and friends will remember him as a passionate and committed person who had a deep love for life and a deep commitment to justice. Landham is survived by his son, William Clayton Landham and his daughter, Sunshine Penelope Landham. His death leaves a large hole in our hearts.
