Michael Ansara, an iconic actor best known for his ongoing portrayals of roles on television series such as "Broken Arrow," "Law of the Plainsman," and "Kang" on the sci-fi hit "Star Trek," passed away on July 31, 2013 at the age of 91. Originally hailing from Syria, Ansara moved to the United States as a young child and grew up in Massachusetts. He attended the Feagin School of Dramatic Art and later served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Ansara's career in film and television began in 1948 when he appeared in the movie "One Sunday Afternoon." He went on to make many guest appearances on various television shows and starred in many others including "Bat Masterson," "Death Valley Days," and "Cimarron Strip," but is most remembered for his many western-themed roles. Ansara was married three times and had three children. He is survived by his children and their families. Michael Ansara left a legacy of memorable characters and a wealth of influence in the entertainment industry that will be cherished and remembered by friends, family, fans, and all those whose lives he touched.
