Today, the world lost a brilliant author, political activist, and actor, Yukio Mishima. Mishima passed away on November 25th, 1970, at the age of 45. Yukio Mishima was born on January 14th 1925, in Tokyo. Mishima was a prolific writer, who wrote more than 40 novels, numerous plays, and countless short stories. He is perhaps best known for his highly influential novels Confessions of a Mask and Thirst for Love. Mishima’s works won him numerous awards, including the prestigious Akutagawa Prize, Japan’s highest accolade for literary works. In addition to his writing career, Mishima was also well-known for his political activism. He founded an extreme right-wing organisation, the Tate no Kaishu, and advocated for a return to traditional Japanese values. Mishima's legacy is one of literary excellence and cultural influence. He will be deeply mourned and fondly remembered for years to come.
