French poet Arthur Rimbaud (1854-1891) passed away on November 10th, 1891 at the age of 37. Rimbaud was born in Charleville, Ardennes, France and is considered one of the key figures of the Symbolist Movement in French literature. His influence on later generations of writers, from the French surrealists to the Beat Poets of America, was immense. He began writing verse from an early age, notably his poems Une Saison en Enfer (A Season in Hell) and Les Illuminations (The Illuminations). These works are now acclaimed as two of the leading landmarks of modern poetry and literary experimentation. Throughout his career, Rimbaud sought to explore language and push the boundaries of the poetry form. His works were greatly admired and highly influential, although Rimbaud himself did not respond positively to the critic reaction to his work. He was unable to recover from a fractured ankle incurred in an accident in 1891. On November 10th, 1891, Arthur Rimbaud died at the age of 37 from complications due to the injury. His work continues to be cited and appreciated by generations of readers, writers, and poets who find inspiration in his accomplishments.
