It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Barry Goldwater, a noted statesman, military officer, businessperson, and musician. Born on January 1, 1909 in Phoenix, Arizona, Barry served in World War II as an Officer in the United States Army Air Corps. Following his return from the war, he later earned his pilot's license. From 1949 to his death, Barry served five terms in the United States Senate. He also served as the Republican nominee for President in 1964, and in 1967 was inducted into the Arizona Aviation Hall of Fame. In addition to his military and political accomplishments, Barry was an accomplishedbusinessman and musician. He owned several movie theaters in Arizona and was an accomplished pianist, although he only played for his own pleasure. After a lifetime of service, Barry died peacefully on May 29, 1998 at the age of 89. He will be remembered for his commitment to public service, his patriotism, and his passion for aviation. Rest in peace, Couragous One.
