Beverley Cross passed away on 1998-03-20 at the age of 66. Beverley was a well-known dramatist and lyricist who wrote scripts and lyrics for beloved musicals such as My Fair Lady, Camelot, Jesus Christ Superstar and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, among others. He was also a frequent collaborator with lyricist Alan Jay Lerner. In addition to his writing accomplishments, Beverley was passionate about teaching and was a professor at Yale University, teaching drama and script writing. He also was a mentor to many students, encouraging them to pursue their dreams. Beverley is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Nell Cross. He is survived by his wife, Francoise Petti, and two sons Richard and Gabriel Cross. He will be remembered for his creativity and passion for his craft, as well as his dedication to teaching and mentorship.
