Al Jarreau, an American musician and seven-time Grammy Award-winner, passed away on February 12, 2017 at 76 years of age. Beginning his career in the 1960s, Jarreau was known for his broad vocal range, perfect pitch, and unique improvisational style. He released several Top Ten songs on the Billboard charts, including the classic, "We're In This Love Together" from 1981. In total, he recorded 19 studio albums in his lifetime, with his most recent being "My Old Friend: Celebrating George Duke", released in 2014. Jarreau was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on March 12, 1940. He held a bachelor's degree from Ripon College, and a master's degree in Vocology from the University of Iowa. He was inducted into the Hollywood Bowl Hall of Fame in 2009. Jarreau's legacy lives on with his expansive catalog of work. His unique vocal style and improvisational skills will be remembered for years to come.
