It is with great sadness that the world mourns the passing of Lou Rawls, a beloved soul singer who passed away on January 6, 2006 at the age of 70. Rawls was born in Chicago, Illinois, where, at the age of seven, he began his musical career singing gospel music at cogregations of Mount Zion Baptist Church. He was a multi-talented artist, known for his remarkable vocal range and distinctive voice, but he also acted in such movies as "Leaving Las Vegas" and appeared in television and commercials. Throughout his musical career, Rawls released a variety of hits that included "You'll Never Find Another Love Like Mine," "Lady Love," "See You When I Get There" and "Groovy People," among others. His lifelong dedication to music can be witnessed by the fact that he achieved numerous gold and platinum albums, three Grammy Awards, and induction to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He will be fondly remembered by family, friends, and fans around the world.
