Butch Cassidy, born Robert LeRoy Parker, died at the age of 40 on November 7, 1908 after a life of adventure and criminal exploits. Born in Beaver, Utah in 1866, many will remember Butch as the leader of The Wild Bunch gang, a notorious group of outlaws who rebelled against the establishment in the American West. His career as an outlaw began when he joined with another famous Western outlaw, The Sundance Kid (real name, Harry Longabaugh) to rob banks, trains and stagecoaches. Together, the pair eluded capture multiple times, mostly due to their clever use of disguises and distinctive hideouts in places like Brown's Hole. At the peak of their criminal activity, Butch and The Sundance Kid were listed by the Pinkerton Agency as the most wanted criminals in the American West. Butch eventually found refuge in Bolivia and it was there that he died. Butch Cassidy will be remembered as a notorious Western outlaw, hero and master of disguise. He left behind a legacy of boldness and will not easily be forgotten.

Death must be so beautiful. To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one’s head, and listen to silence. To have no yesterday, and no to-morrow. To forget time, to forget life, to be at peace. Oscar Wilde
