On Thursday, November 19, 1988, Christina Onassis passed away at the age of 37. The circumstances surrounding her death remains a mystery. Christina was the daughter of Greek businessman Aristotle Onassis and his first wife, Athina Livanos. Although she was born in New York City, Christina spent much of her life in Athens, Greece, where she was educated at the Psichiko and Mademoiselle Océan schools. Despite being born into wealth and privilege, she often struggled to find happiness. During her life, she was married twice: Her first marriage was to shipping heir Alexander Andreadis, while her second was to French interpreter Jean-Paul Renoir. Neither marriage ended in a lasting union. Despite her difficult personal life, she devoted herself to diplomatic and philanthropic ventures. She donated to several charities, and made her home in Paris. Christina Onassis was a multi-faceted woman who will be remembered for her strength, resilience, and compassion. She is survived by her brothers, sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews.
