On March 21st, 2017, Chuck Barris passed away at the age of 87. Barris was an iconic American television host, producer, and songwriter. Barris began his career as a singer and songwriter, writing the hit song "Palisades Park" in 1962. He also composed music for films such as "The Gong Show Movie". Barris is best known for creating and producing game and variety shows such as The Dating Game, The Newlywed Game, The Gong Show, and many more. He was the host and producer of these shows for more than 20 years. Barris was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2002 for his television career. He is also credited with launching the career of many of today's celebrities, including Vicki Lawrence, Jamie Farr, and Marie Osmond. Barris was also a best-selling author, having published his autobiography, "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind", in 1984. Barris is survived by his wife of 25 years, Mary, and his four children. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
