Legendary actor Chuck Connors died peacefully on Thursday, November 10, 1992, at the age of seventy-one. Chuck was born Kevin Joseph Connors in Brooklyn, New York, on April 10, 1921. After serving with the U.S. Army during World War II, he assumed the professional name ‘Chuck’ when joining the basketball team, the Boston Celtics. Chuck’s fame spread as an actor playing roles in westerns such as The Commish (1961), Cowboy in Africa, and most notably, in The Rifleman (1958-1963). His breakout performance in The Rifleman earned him an Emmy nomination. Chuck also appeared in many other films such as The Big Country, The Proud and the Damned, and the Musketeers of the Sea. Chuck’s love for acting was only surpassed by his love of his family and friends. Outside of his acting career, Chuck enjoyed fishing, golf, and photography. He will be remembered for his genuine charisma and goodwill towards all who knew and loved him.
