Mike Connors, a veteran actor best known for his work in such television series as "Mannix" and "Tightrope!", died on January 26, 2017, at the age of 91. Born Krekor Ohanian on August 15, 1925, in Fresno, California, he adopted the stage name Mike Connors early on in his acting career. Connors began appearing in television shows in the 1950s after several years working as an animator, landing guest spots on titles such as "I Led 3 Lives" and "Schlitz Playhouse of Stars." He received his first lead role in 1959, as the titular character in "Tightrope!", a crime drama. Following this, he famously starred as Joe Mannix in "Mannix," a show that ran for eight seasons from 1967 to 1975. Throughout his career, Connors had a variety of film and television roles across multiple genres, including romantic comedies, made-for-TV movies and westerns. He also competed on "Celebrity Challenge of the Sexes" in 1977. In recognition of his work, Connors was presented with a Golden Globe for Most Popular Male TV Performer in 1971. Connors is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, his three children, and his extended family. He will be remembered for his extensive contributions to the entertainment industry and his dedication to his craft.
