Actor and children's advocate Corey Haim died of an apparent overdose Wednesday morning at the age of 38, officials said. Born in Toronto on December 23, 1971, Corey Haim began his career as a child actor, appearing in a number of commercials and television shows. In 1987, he made his feature film debut in the drama Lucas, and achieved teen idol status a year later with his starring role opposite Corey Feldman in the blockbuster horror film The Lost Boys. In the 1990s and early 2000s, Haim continued to work steadily in both television and film, appearing in such high-profile projects as the 1998 drama Snake Eyes and the 2001 comedyLicense to Drive. In recent years, he had become known for his work as a children's advocate, appearing as a spokesman for various charities and healthcare organizations. Corey Haim is survived by his mother, Judy Haim; his father, Bernie Haim; and his two brothers, Matt and Ed Haim.
