Dan Fogelberg, 56, a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who enjoyed an immensely successful career making music, passed away on December 17, 2007. Fogelberg was born in Peoria, Illinois in 1951. An ardent fan of great music from a very young age, he started learning the guitar at the age of 13, and soon started writing his own songs. After a few early successes, his debut album titled Home Free was released in 1972. This began his journey into a professional life of making music. Over the years, Fogelberg released numerous studio albums, live albums, and compilation albums, with the most successful ones being Souvenirs, Nether Lands, and Twin Sons of Different Mothers. His partnership with drummer Mike Botts was key to his success, and they had worked together on many successful albums. Fogelberg was an active and tireless promoter of music, and his songwriting and performing was highly acclaimed. He received a nomination for the Grammy Awards in 1981 and also had an induction into the Colorado Music Hall of Fame in 2011. He is survived by his friends, family, and his large fan base who had enjoyed his work for many years.
