Dave Mirra (1975-2016) passed away on February 4th, 2016 at the age of 41. He was a pioneer of the sport of BMX freestyle, and helped define the modern era of extreme sports. He started competing at the age of 17, winning multiple competitions and titles, including 24 X Games medals over his career. In addition to his success on the BMX circuit, Dave Mirra made a number of television appearances, including on the show MTV Sports. He had also appeared in several video games, and was the first athlete to have a signature video game series branded after himself. In recent years, he was involved in multiple business ventures, including bike shops, and had also appeared in various ad campaigns. Throughout his life and career, Dave Mirra was an inspirational figure to many, and will be remembered for his impressive achievements and relentless ambition.
