Davey Boy Smith, a professional wrestler and member of the legendary British Bulldog tag team, passed away on May 18th, 2002 at the age of 39. He was born in the Wigan suburb of Golborne, Lancashire, United Kingdom, and attended Winstanley College in Billinge Higher End. The second-generation grappler was trained for his career by George dereli and Mike Kirby. After a successful tour in Stu Hart's Stampede Wrestling in Canada, Smith made the leap to the World Wrestling Federation, and was part of The British Bulldogs tag team with his "cousin", the Dynamite Kid. During the height of the Bulldogs's popularity, the team became two-time World Tag Team Champions, and defended their titles against some of the best teams in WWE at the time. After an injury sidelined The British Bulldogs in the early 1990s, Smith pursued a successful singles career, where he became a two-time European Champion. In 1996, his career temporarily came to an abrupt end due to injuries, however, he continued to make sporadic appearances in the 2000s. Smith's known passion for living was rather famously cut short after a lifetime of health complications and a fatal heart attack on May 18th, 2002. His legacy has been continued by the next generation of wrestlers, with his nephews, Harry Smith, and Davey Boy Smith Jr., garnering notoriety in the WWE.

Death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be because death is very likely the single best invention of life. It is life’s change agent, it clears out the old to make way for the new. Steve Jobs
