Born on July 22, 1959, David was the fourth of five sons born to wrestler Jack Adkisson, known professionally as Fritz Von Erich, and his wife Doris. David was raised in a family of wrestlers and learned the craft at a young age. David began his amateur wrestling career in high school, where he excelled as a state champion in Texas. He then followed in his family's footsteps and began his professional wrestling career in 1977. He quickly gained recognition and became known for his technical and athletic abilities in the ring. David joined his brothers Kerry, Kevin, Mike, and Chris in the family's wrestling promotion, World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW). He had successful feuds and matches against some of the biggest names in the industry, including Ric Flair, Harley Race, and Dory Funk Jr. He also held multiple championship titles throughout his career, including the NWA American Heavyweight Championship and the NWA Texas Heavyweight Championship. Aside from his career in wrestling, David was also a loving husband to his wife Tricia and a devoted father to his daughter Krista and son David Jr. He was also known for his charitable work and regularly participated in fundraising events for various organizations. On February 10, 1984, David was found unresponsive in his hotel room in Tokyo, Japan, where he was scheduled to wrestle in a match. Despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the age of 25. The cause of his death was later determined to be acute enteritis, a severe inflammation of the intestine. David's sudden and tragic passing left a lasting impact on the wrestling community and his family, who deeply mourned his loss. He will be remembered as a talented and passionate wrestler who left a mark on the industry in his short but memorable career.
