Dennis Wilson (1944-1983) passed away on December 28, 1983. He was the drummer for the Beach Boys and a solo artist. Born and raised in Hawthorne, California, Dennis began playing music at a young age. During the late 1950s and early 1960s, he joined his brothers and local musician friend to form one of the most influential American rock bands of all time, the Beach Boys. As the drummer and founding member of the band, Dennis played on and provided backing vocals for many of the band's hit songs such as "Good Vibrations," "Surfin' USA," "Help Me Rhonda," and many more. As a solo artist, Dennis released two studio albums, Pacific Ocean Blue in 1977 and Bambu in 1978. He collaborated with other California artists including Charles Lloyd and Tandyn Almer. Dennis passed away at the age of 39 in Los Angeles, California. He is remembered for his unique contribution to the sound of the Beach Boys, as well as his solo career. He will be dearly missed by family, friends, and fans.
