Diana Hyland, an actress with a knack for commanding any stage or television/movie screen she graced, has passed away peacefully on March 27th, 1977 at the age of 41. Born Diana Gentner on January 25th, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio, Diana's childhood was split between Ohio and California while her father worked in the Air Force. She pursued her love of acting at the Pasadena Playhouse and upon graduation, she moved to New York City to pursue acting professionally. Diana moved to Los Angeles in the late 1960s and further developed her acting career by appearing in television shows such as Gentle Ben and Bracken's World. Her success in the industry skyrocketed in 1976 when she began portraying Ann Romano in the hit sitcom One Day at a Time - a role that earned her an Emmy nomination. Diana was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was an avid animal rights activist, a humanitarian and a wonderful storyteller. Diana was a multifaceted woman and will be remembered for her strength, talent and tireless dedication to her craft. She is survived by her eldest son Nicholas and the rest of her family and friends. Diana will be missed and fondly remembered.
