Divya Bharti (1974 – April 5, 1993) passed away on April 5, 1993 at the young age of 19. She was an acclaimed Indian actress and singer, who starred in numerous Hindi-language films. Divya, who was born in Mumbai on February 25, 1974, was the daughter of Om Prakash Bharti and Meeta Bharti. At the age of 17, Divya made her onscreen debut in the 1992 film Vishwatma, where she received much acclaim for her work. She rose to prominence in a very short time and was featured in several Bollywood blockbusters—most notably Deewana, Dil Ka Kya Kare, Dilwale and Kshatriya. In her brief but successful career, Divya acted in a total of 14 motion pictures and recorded six hit songs in Hindi. Although her life was tragically cut short, she touched many lives and left an unforgettable impression on the entertainment world. Divya is survived by her parents and two siblings. She will be remembered fondly by her friends, family and fans.
