Madhubala, who died on February 23, 1969 at the age of 36, was a prolific Indian actress who worked in Hindi films. During her fourteen year career, she acted in over seventy feature films. She was acclaimed for her beauty and acclaimed for her portrayals of strong female characters, often playing the role of the tragic heroine. She gained recognition for her performance in the films Mahal, Mughal-e-Azam and Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi, and in 1958 was nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress. Madhubala's impact on the Indian film industry extended beyond her successful career, as many of the characters she portrayed elevated the status of women in Indian society. Madhubala will be remembered for her vibrant screen presence and distinguished characters.
