Legendary NFL coach Don Shula passed away on May 4, 2020 at the age of 90. Born in Grand River, Ohio in 1930, Shula attended John Carroll University. He had a Hall of Fame career as the head coach for the NFL's Baltimore Colts and Miami Dolphins. From 1963 to 1995 - a total of 33 years - Shula had an unmatched 267-133-6 regular season record and marked a record with only two losing seasons. As the head coach of the Miami Dolphins from 1970 to 1995, he was the architect of the only perfect season in NFL history in 1972. He coached six AFC Championship teams, winning two Super Bowls. He was also enshrined in both the Pro Football Hall of Fame and the Dolphins Honor Roll. In addition to his hall of fame career in the NFL, he was an avid golfer and involved in many community projects. He was a generous philanthropist and tireless supporter of numerous charities, one of which was the Don Shula Foundation, which funds research for breast and prostate cancer. He was pre-deceased in 2016 by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Shula, with whom he had four children. He will be deeply missed by family, friends, colleagues and millions of football fans around the world.
