Donna Reed (1921 - 1986) passed away on January 14, 1986 at age 64. She was an American actress, singer and television personality. Reed won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for the film From Here to Eternity (1953), and achieved lasting fame as a television series actor, playing the role of Donna Stone in the long-running family-drama "The Donna Reed Show". She also regularly appeared on other television programs as herself or in guest roles, and had featured roles in a number of motion pictures throughout her career. Reed was a resilient and hard-working actress, having made over 65 films between 1937 and 1966. She achieved one of her most notable roles in the comedy It's a Wonderful Life (1946) in which she starred opposite James Stewart. During her later years, Reed appeared at various functions and events related to the arts and supported a number of charitable causes. In 1986, after a long career on the screen and stage she died at the age of 64.
