Dwight Clark, beloved husband, father, and former professional football player, passed away peacefully on June 4th, 2018 at the age of 61. Clark grew up in Denver, Colorado and attended Clemson University where he starred at wide receiver and graduated with a degree in administration of recreation services. After college, he was tapped by the San Francisco 49ers in the 1979 draft and played nine seasons for the team. His iconic play on The Catch in the 1982 NFC title game helped the 49ers go on to win the first of their five Super Bowls. He was later inducted into the 49ers Hall of Fame in 1988. In addition to his successful football career, he served as executive director of the NFL Players Association during the time of the NFL strike. Later in his career he became involved with multiple charities and was well loved by the community. He is survived by his loving wife Kelly, his daughter Casey, his son Mac and other family and friends. To honor his life, donations may be made to the Dwight Clark Foundation in his honor.
