Earl Woods, beloved father and mentor, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2006 at the age of 74. Born in 1932, Earl was dearly loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. He was a successful entrepreneur and later went on to actively support and nurture his son, Tiger Woods, in his path to becoming one of the foremost professional golfers in the world. Earl was deeply commited to his son's accomplishment and that of others. His dedication not only helped create a golf champion, but was also instrumental in inspiring future generations of athletes. Earl was a Vietnam War veteran, and worked with the United States Golf Association to promote mentoring activities in golf among local communities. He was also known for his fundraising efforts for several charities. Armed with an infectious smile, Earl will be remembered for his optimism, enthusiasm, and commitment to bringing out the best in others. We will continue to honor his memory.
