Eva Gabor, a beloved television, film, and stage actress, philanthropist, and businesswoman, died in Los Angeles on July 4, 1995, at 76 years old. Eva had a long and storied career, starting as a young actress in 1936 in the Broadway production of Junior Miss. She moved to Hollywood and starred in films such as Blond Venus (1952) and The Last Time I Saw Paris (1954). Eva became a fan favorite after her role as Lisa Douglas, a socialite, in the 1960s television series Green Acres. She also appeared in Our Man in Tangier (1959), The Rescuers (1977), and the Fox and the Hound (1991). In later years, Eva focused on her business ventures. She was a long-time president of the Eva Gabor International Agency, an international business that manufactured and distributed wigs, hairpieces, and beauty products. Eva was an active philanthropist. She was especially passionate about helping the animal cause, donating her time and money to organizations such as the Los Angeles Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Eva was a loving friend, daughter, and sister to her family. Her surviving siblings are Magda Gabor, Zsa Zsa Gabor, and Jolsi Gabor. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and fans.
