Eva Perón, beloved leader and icon, passed away on July 26th, 1952, at the age of 33. She was born in Los Toldos, Argentina and was a leader of the Peronist Party and the Argentine women's movement. Evita, as she was commonly known, had a meteoric rise in the Argentine political arena. In 1946, she married Juan Perón and together, they represented a voice for the downtrodden of Argentine society. She quickly conquered the people with her powerful oratory and always championed for the rights of women, children and the Argentine working class. Her legacy continues today with hundreds of schools, labor laws, and hospitals that all carry her name in her honor. Evita was preceded in death by her husband, former President Juan Perón, and is survived by her brother’s and her family. Eva Peron remains an icon in Argentina and is always remembered for her devoted service to her country and to her people. May she rest in peace.
