It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Frances Shand Kydd, who passed away on June 3, 2004 at the age of 68. Frances was born in 1936, the eldest child of Peter Frances Shand, second son of the 17th Earl of Moray, and Lady Anne Spencer-Churchill, daughter of the 7th Duke of Marlborough. She grew up in a privileged life among aristocracy in Scotland and England, and was educated at private boarding schools in England. Frances was the mother of the late Diana, Princess of Wales, as well as two sons, Charles and Peter. She was grandmother to Prince William and Prince Harry of the British Royal Family. She is also survived by two sisters, Pamela Pakenham-Walsh and Sarah Raffray. During her life, Frances gave tirelessly to charities, particularly to causes that support the elderly and those with disabilities. Additionally, she was a believer in social conservatism, supporting the preservation of traditional institutions such as the monarchy. Frances will be fondly remembered for her generous spirit, unwavering faith, and the loving care she provided to her family. May she rest in peace.
