Gary Morton, a long-time comedian and actor, passed away on March 30th, 1999 at the age of 74. Born in London in 1924, Morton trained as a dancer and entertainer before immigrating to the United States. Morton was best known for his collaboration with his late wife, Lucille Ball. After meeting in 1961, Morton and Ball were married for 26 years until her passing in 1989. During that time, Morton was an important part of her life and career. He helped her run her production company, Desilu Productions, and appeared alongside her on television series such as The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour and Lucy Show. He also pursued a career of his own, highlighted by live standup performances and appearances on numerous shows, including C.P.O. Sharkey and Saturday Night Live. Morton also supported a variety of philanthropic causes. Morton was survived by his two sons from a previous marriage, Gary Michael and Robert. A private memorial service was held for family and friends in Los Angeles. He is remembered fondly for his comedic timing and his dedication to the entertainment industry.
