George Lincoln Rockwell, American white nationalist political leader, died on August 25th, 1967, at the age of 49. Born on March 9, 1918, in Bloomington, Illinois, he grew up in Belmont, Massachusetts, where he was educated in private schools. Rockwell enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1941, serving as a pilot and becoming a radar officer. He read voraciously, particularly enjoying works by Plato and Nietzsche. After his military service, he became a formidable political activist. He founded the American Nazi Party in 1959 and served as its leader for eight years. His party held controversial rallies, published books and a periodical, and he appeared regularly on radio and television broadcasts. He died at the age of 49 in a shooting on August 25th, 1967. The assailant, John Thomas Heaton III, had been a former party member and was found not guilty due to insanity. Rockwell was buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery. Rockwell was a controversial figure in American politics. His political legacy lives on today, and his influence can be seen in the modern white nationalist movement.
