Bart Starr, legendary Hall of Fame NFL quarterback and Super Bowl MVP, died on May 26, 2019 in Birmingham, Alabama at age 85. Starr made his name as a professional athlete, becoming one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. A talented and focused player, he spent his entire 16-year career with the Green Bay Packers, leading the team to five NFL Championships and victories in Super Bowls I and II. Named the MVP of Super Bowl I, Starr was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1977 and the NFL 75th Anniversary All-Time Team in 1994. Off the field, Starr was a devoted family man and an advocate for charities and good causes. For many years, he visited patients at Birmingham's Children's Hospital through the Bart and Cherry Starr Family Fund. After retiring from football, Starr family moved to Birmingham, where he served as CEO of a health care company and worked for the Packers as an assistant coach and later the team's head coach. He is survived by his wife, his three sons, and one grandson.
