James Naismith, a Canadian physical education instructor and sports coach, has passed away on November 28th, 1939. He was 79 years old. Naismith developed an activity to provide his students with a physical education and was the inventor of basketball. After his invention blew up in popularity, Naismith decided to follow the fame and went on to become the first basketball coach of the University of Kansas from 1898-1907. He didn't only coach basketball, but he was an ordained minister who wrote inspirational books, including the definitive history of the sport itself. James Naismith will be remembered for his endless effort and passion for sports. He revolutionized the world of physical education by introducing the world to an immensely popular activity that truly broke barriers. He remains a powerful figure in sports history, and his legacy will never be forgotten.
