Jerry Lee Lewis, beloved musician, has passed away at age 87. He was born on September 29, 1935, in Ferriday, Louisiana. He rose to fame in the 1950s as a widely influential pioneer of rock and roll music. Lewis was a highly influential pianist, having been called one of the Founding Fathers of Rock and Roll. His genre-crossing musical style was a signature of his career, incorporating both rock and roll and country music. His signature hits include; "Great Balls of Fire," "Whole Lot of Shakin' Going On," "Breathless," "Cash on the Barrelhead," and many more. Lewis was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986 and the Rockabilly Hall of Fame in 1997. He was also inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. He is a three time Grammy Award recipient, and the recipient of a lifetime achievement award from the Americana Music Association. His music influenced generations of fans and aspiring musicians alike. He will be remembered for his charisma, his enormous energy and his dedication to his craft. He was loved by many and will be deeply missed.
