We regret to announce the passing of Eli Wallach, who died June 24, 2014 at the age of ninety-eight. Wallach was born December 7, 1915 in New York City to a family of immigrants. He was educated at the University of Texas at Austin and the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater. Wallach was a beloved actor who found fame both on the stage and on the silver screen, giving memorable performances throughout his long career. He won a Tony Award for his work on Broadway in The Teahouse of the August Moon (1953) and a BAFTA Award for SeauxCalifornians (1960). He received an Honorary Academy Award in 2010. Wallach is known for many roles, including Tuco in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), New York City's 'Mr. Freeze' in Batman (1966) and a deputy in The Magnificent Seven (1960). His last film was Walt Disney Pictures' Wall.E (2008). He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Anne Jackson; son Peter Wallach; daughter Katharine Ehrenkranz, and four grandchildren. He will be fondly remembered by the fans he won over throughout his long and fulfilling career.
