It is with profound sadness that the world mourns the death of John Fitzgerald Kennedy Jr., who tragically passed away on July 16, 1999, at the age of 38. John was born in Washington, DC, on November 25, 1960. He was the beloved son of the late President John F. Kennedy and legendary First Lady Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy. He also leaves behind his beloved sister, Caroline Kennedy, her husband, Edwin Schlossberg, and their three children. Known for his charismatic nature and impressive intellect, John graduated cum laude from Brown University in 1983 before going on to attain his law degree magna cum laude from New York University School of Law in 1989. He served on the board of numerous organizations including AIDS Action Foundation and Simply Apples. John was a pioneer in the publishing world; he founded the popular magazine George in 1995 which focused on current events, culture and politics. During his lifetime he was featured in numerous publications including TIME, People, and Newsweek. John was an avid aviation enthusiast and maritime connoisseur. He was an accomplished pilot who gained notoriety for his successful retrieval of a lost glider and received an award for seamanship in 2016. John will always be remembered for his passion, devotion to public service, and professional excellence. He was a kind and thoughtful son, brother, uncle, and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
