John McAfee, a tech entrepreneur, anti-virus software pioneer, and political activist, passed away on June 23, 2021 at the age of 75. He was born in Scotland and moved to America in the 1970’s, where he started one of the pioneering anti-virus software companies, McAfee Associates. McAfee made a name for himself as a tech pioneer and computer security expert. He was a major contributor to the field of computer security and was a key player in the development of internet safety. Alongside his business empire, he was an outspoken political activist and had recently declared his candidacy for the presidential race in 2020. John McAfee leaves behind a legacy as an industry pioneer who revolutionised internet security practices. He was a true risk-taker and adventurous spirit who will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
