It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Campbell, who died on October 30th, 1987 at the age of 83. Joseph was born in White Plains, New York in 1904. He earned a BA from Princeton University and a PhD in anthropology from the former mystical school, Columbia University. Throughout his long and distinguished career, Joseph achieved many successes. He wrote, edited, and published several works, mostly on mythology, which he was passionate about. His work, alongside his public appearances, gave him international recognition among fans of mythology, folklore, and spiritual thought. Joseph continued his scholarly research until shortly before his death. In his lifetime, he is remembered for crossing cultures and time periods to unearth the source of myth, and for sharing his insights with the public. Joseph will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
