On May 6th, 2021, Kentaro Miura, beloved manga artist, passed away at the age of 54. Born in Chiba, Japan in 1966, Kentaro's career as a manga artist began when he won an honorable mention for his manga Warriors at age 18. After graduating from Nihon University College of Art in 1987, he went on to debut Berserk in 1988, a brutal fantasy which quickly gained notoriety for its violent, dark plot line. Over the course of his career, he penned over 25 volumes of Berserk and several other manga, including King of Wolves and Maximo, becoming one of the most recognizable manga artists in Japan. His strong artwork was widely regarded for its visual expression and detail as well as his strong moral themes. He was also responsible for original character designs and artworks of various video games and anime, such as Xenogears, Soul Cambria, and Tower of Druaga. Kentaro Miura is survived by his wife, Keiko Miura. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and appreciated his work.
