Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, a respected leader of the United Arab Emirates and its ruler and president, died on 13 May 2022 at the age of 73. Khalifa was a selfless leader and highly esteemed by his fellow citizens and the international community alike. He oversaw the rapid economic expansion and globalization of the UAE, introducing reforms such as developing a modern infrastructure, incentivizing technology and knowledge-based industries, and promoting social policies that helped create a strong and cohesive society. Under his guidance, the UAE emerged as a prosperous and influential power in the region, becoming a leader in international politics, economics, culture and tourism. Khalifa served as president for just over a decade, from 2004 to 2021, dedicating his life to advancing the UAE's progress and stability. The country's growth and prosperity has been widely attributed to his unwavering commitment to the people and culture of the UAE. He is remembered and celebrated by all who knew him for his humility, sense of duty and exceptional leadership. He will be greatly missed.
