Kobe Bryant, famed basketball player and entrepreneur, died on January 26, 2020 at 41. A highly decorated player, Bryant was a five-time NBA champion, 18-time NBA All-Star, two-time Olympic gold medalist, and the 2008 NBA MVP. His 20-year basketball career with the Los Angeles Lakers began in 1996 and ended in 2016. During this time, he played in 1,346 games, becoming the all-time leader in scoring for the Lakers and finishing as 3rd place all-time for the NBA. Bryant also enjoyed success off of the court. He was an Academy Award winner, an entrepreneur, and an author. He won an Oscar in 2018 for his animated short film Dear Basketball. The year prior, he wrote the book The Mamba Mentality: How I Play, which provided valuable insight into the motivations and approach he took to the game of basketball. Bryant inspired a generation of athletes, business owners, and authors alike. He will be remembered for both his skill and passion for the game of basketball.
